So i get the Western Outdoors news (WON) and have for a long time. In case you dont know of it; its a weekly newpaper that devouts its contents to fishing and hunting in the west, mostly so. cal. But they do have a weekly fishing report for our own Lake Mead that is usually way better than our local RJ one. So i thought , hell why dont I post it for my lake mead brothers? So here goes. Keep in mind this not my first hand account, its from the WON. Sometimes it names its sources (usually local guides) sometimes not.
Lake Mead- It was a consistent bite this entire week past week, with stripers showing both on cut baits and trout imitations. A majority of the linesides hitting cut bait were coming from the main channel off the 33 Hole, and those fish were all schoolies up to about 3 pounds. Eighty to 90 feet was the key depth. Last weeks trout plant did not spure any lunkers but it did produce numbers of fish in the 5 to 8 pound range for those throwing BBZs, Kongs or Sebile Magic Swimmers. The lakes largemouths are all over the place, with some anglers reporting good action while working jigs or drop shots in deep water and others seeing fish shallow. So typical pre-spawn stuff.
End report. I will try to post this weekly as i get my issue of WON, maybe help some of you guys out. I am planning a crazy trip up to sunnyside in a week or two to bust my little Jon boat through some ice ala The Deadliest Catch and see if I can get some trout. Should be a blast...making camp in the snow will be a new adventure []
