It has been on the news that channel 5 is going to "expose" fraud with this program with no real evidence as to what they are talking about. They claim that it is a scam and it was designed for the homeowner to get attic insulation and rebates after install. Is that not what we are doing?
They are reporting on a case that is over 4 months old. If you go to thermwize.com and look at the front page in the bold red paragraph it outlines the new policy effectively stopping the scam that was happening with 3 "scam" companies.
What happened was that before 1/1/09, the rebate checks could be made out in the contractors name. The scam companies were filing work orders, scheduling install out 10 weeks, and cashing the checks with no work being done and they made off with the money. The homeowners were not out any money but didn't get their insulation as promised. The new guidelines require the checks made out to the homeowner and our applications for rebates are not even sent to the utilities until the work has been done so an accurate dollar amount can be applied to the rebate. There is NO WAY the homeowner can be left with a bill and they WILL GET THEIR INSULATION!
I have had several phone calls today about this ridiculous media BS. All a person needs to do is call the utilities and inquire about the program. They will validate EVERYTHING i have told you about the program as well as my company
Hopefully the media will not ruin this opportunity. I just wanted to let everybody know what the real story is before a panic happens.
Also, RMP has not advertised this program on their end. This media coverage will expose it and the public will be outraged. It is good for us in a way though, it will let tens of thousands of utah residence know it exists and hopefully bring us more business. It is amazing how few people have heard about the program
If anybody has questions or concerns please pm me and i will answer all of your questions. I urge everyone to watch KSL tomorrow night and see what they have to say. When you see that they are wrong give me acall for your NO COST insulation inspection.[cool]
