After the rain moved out and the wind settled down, I headed for the lake with high hopes for a productive day. I put in at Skull Island and headed for some familiar areas near Sequoia. There was some decent current, so I opted for the bluff first and picked up fish immediately but they were running small. Soon, I tied into something heavy and after a 20 to 30 min battle and some encouragement from Hal (who was fishing nearby with Ben), I worked a nice blue cat up and Hal slipped his net under him. Thanks Hal. (Pic in Hal's post). After that I eased back up the bluff and was rewarded with a fat 4lb plus largemouth bass. I managed a few more crappie before leaving to try some other areas but only one nice keeper. I then decided to try some downed trees back in a slough and again found a few crappie but only one more keeper. Things were pretty much dead after that for me. I tried other bluff areas, docks, trees and just couldn't put anything together. I wound up catching several species (crappie, largemouth, smallmouth, drum, yellow bass) and I had a great time but overall it was a tough day. I fished ringer stingers and slab slayers (pearl-chart) and did better with the 32nd head. Water temps were 48 to 50 degrees in most areas. I saw Hal again just before I left and we couldn't even make a good mess between us. Again, a tough day but I was glad to be out there amongst 'em.<br />I'm including a couple of pics and a short report from the 26th on Nickajack tailwaters. I fished with my buddy, JJ and we had a decent morning on white bass, fishing jigs on the wingwall and in the current seams. We ended up with around 30 whites and had a few big drum too. I'm sorry to be so late with this report. I just couldn't get to the computer at the time.
