Okay, so google maps has officially Confused me. When I look at the kaysville area I can see 3 reservoirs between Highway 89 and I-15. I have been to and fished at the one located furthest to the north and east. Labeled on Google Maps as "holmes reservoir". However, another reservoir located south of there and and to the west is labeled "holmes creek". And then there is another res. named Adams reservoir.
Do these other reservoirs allow fishing access? Which one is really Holmes Creek Reservoir. Which one do people nickname "companies pond".

Holmes Creek is the companies pond. It's the one located right by the golf course in Layton. I don't know anything about Adams but maybe someone else here can help you with that.

Adams pond once upon a time had fish. It is now strictly for the farms or golf course, or whatever its used for. There are no fish in that pond anymore however.

Coming from the south along Hwy 89, look for the green water tank with the Layton Surf and Swim sign on it. Look for the next left. Take it.

100 yards west, there is the first access point to the lake, then follow the curve around, and there are multiple smaller pull outs all along on the left side. The right side is the driving range.

If your looking at from Gmaps, it's the one closest to Hwy 89. It's real close to 89. The gas station up the road has a bait fridge, that's about it.

Holmes can be a real great place to fish, but it sure can be frustrating also. It has so much fishy looking water all around it and you can still get skunked.
There are fish in there, probably some nice rainbows by now, crappie, bass, catfish, bluegills, perch and white bass, that I know of, some have seen walleye, but few and far between.

I have seen a handful of Walleye caught out of that pond. Mostly where the pipes come out on the southeast area of the pond. Has anyone had good success catching bass out of there recently? I used to catch them there by the dozens, but the population appears to be dwindling. This used to be my favorite holes for largemouth.

I agree on the bass. I think the popularity of this pond has increased dramaticly in recent years and increased harvest has effected it. JMHO.

Holmes is still good for planted bows of different year classes, crappie and bluegill. I would catch more cat fish if I fished at night, but there are better places for that. I like it for it's size, setting and location and it's free. It really is a mini fish factory with it's variety of structure and shoreline cover.

For years I caught big largies every spring, and never caught a catfish. Last 3 years I have caught lots of cats, even a couple biggies (for me) up to 4 lbs.

Caught one walleye years ago, and saw a dead one over 19".

I'd like to know where and how to pick up the bluegills and crappies. I've caught them there, but never in any size or numbers..

you can catch them on basically any small dry flies but pmd's in red or yellow work fairly well

Catfish are now stocked every summer at Holmes Creek.
This started 2 years ago when Holmes became a Community Pond.
