Caught this weird looking Oscar cichlid, and
a bunch of bluegills and shellcrackers. My son
hooked a 3/4 pound African Spotted tilapia and
reeling it in a MONSTER bass hit it hard!!! My kid
was screaming at me to help as his reel started
to sing. Bass aren't known for long runs and taking
a lot of line, so I knew this was a monster. I got the
rod and fought the biggun for around 25 minutes.
I set the drag very light as to not pull the smaller hooks
from his mouth. Right as I got a glimpse of this
beast it spat the tilapia right out and swam away.
If i would've had bigger hooks I would've landed
it. It was huge, double digit huge, maybe over
15 pounds. The Tilapia was 10 inches wide, this
bass swallowed it with no problem. It's a monster,
I felt so depressed of being so lucky to even see
a monster like that let alone fight it with my rod.
Loosing it right there not 5 feet from me is hard
on my heart to say the least. There is always next
time.[frown]
