Well, I got my first trip to Sand Hollow for the year.
It was a long day, as we left Henderson at 2am, and came back at 10pm, but im all caught up on sleep by now.
Got to the lake early to a stiff 20mph wind. It was 37 degrees outside....damn...

Undeterred, we unloaded the yaks, and went at it.

Alex hooked up the fish finder, and the water temp was 47 degrees. It was not a play day. That shit was cold.
We started out to deep water to find schools of fish holding around 35ft structure.

Picked off the first fish of the day on a pumpkinseed senko.
Small little dude.... and ice cold.

We continued to target the deep fish for a while, but they just were not cooperating.
I switched to a crawdad colored crank-bait, and got hit on the second cast.

My next cast got me hung up on some brush, and the crank was gone.
TIME TO SWITCH IT UP!
I tossed a ton of different lures out there for the next 3 or so hours, with nothin'. Alex still didn't have a fish, and our beginner-luck buddy Brandon already had 4 fish landed.
He didn't even know how to tie a knot! We hooked him up with a Texas rigged 7" Gulp Turtle Back worm in green-pumpkinseed, and he just steadily picked off fish.
Heres a picture of his funny-lookin-ass....
Who holds a bass like that? [sly]

Anyway, took a lunch break, and stocked up on more beers-

I decided I'd toss a big spinner-bait in the stained shallower water now that it had warmed up a bit.
[inline "Sand Hollow 3-24-09 018.jpg"]
Hey! It worked!
[inline "Sand Hollow 3-24-09 019.jpg"]
That was my last hit of the trip. We stayed until about 6:30pm, and called it a day.
We had a great time out there, despite the cold, windy conditions. (it got less windy in the afternoon)
All in all, I got the 3, Brandon got 5, and poor Alex got skunked... and not for a lack of trying. He was out fishing while I was taking breaks drinking beer. Next time....
We drove away from the lake slightly bruised, but not beaten.
[inline "Sand Hollow 3-24-09 034.jpg"]
Seriously, this lake is beautiful.

[inline "Sand Hollow 3-24-09 032.jpg"]
Its very fishy.
Always worth the drive out.
