After a short run in the fog, we ended up in a shallow slough in the mid lake area where I've had success in the past. Al put 2 keepers in the boat. One with a blade and the other with a trap. After catching a ton of shorts, we made the run to the mouth of the Hiwassee where I landed our 3rd keeper. We spent the next 4 hours catching every stinking buck bass in the lake. We easily landed 30 shorts between us with a handful of board fish.. Al lost a keeper 10 feet from the boat when it came unbuttoned on a trap. Broke off another on a jig when the fish got wrapped around an underwater brushpile. We did see the fish come up a few yards away trying to dislodge the jig. We ended up weighing in 7 1/2 lbs. I'd always wanted to fish with Al and I finally got my chance. The man is a good stick not to mention a great partner. Here's hoping we can do it again brother. Water temps were 56 degrees early but warmed to 60 degrees by afternoon. All of our keepers were caught in 6 feet or less. Wind was a small factor today.
