I asked that my thread not be a pissing match. I asked for an up front answer based on personal experiences. It was locked fairly quickly. People cannot keep their opinions to themselves and like to ruin honest conversation with passionate personal agendas.

FYI... I am keeping fish that are caught. I am releasing anything really big. I am going to stay within my legal limits of doing so; besides what business is it if I or a guide or a 6 year old child keeps fish.

Ever wonder why a good bunch of the seasoned BFT users are rare around here?

Get a clue folks.

Almost anyone that has been on here for at least the last year knows who this board likes to fish with and who people despise because of there own feelings about them big brutes. I dont know why you just didn't PM the laker guys and got there opion on who was next in line in there book to get you on some nice fish.
My own opinion. If I caught one over thirty pounds it would go back just because I would want someone else to enjoy the thrill of catching a fish like that.I would let all of them go just because I don't eat trout. If someone was on my boat that wanted to keep a fish like the ones we are talking about they could do so,but would be getting razed by me for a long while.I want my kids and there kids and there kids to be able to experience catching a fish of that caliber.we keep taking them out for any reason then that chance of my grand kids catching a fish like that is just a dream.Just so you know I have never caught one yet that is even worth bragging about.
But everyone knows this is a subject that has always been very touchy on this site.
Hope you find a good guide with good ethics.[fishin]

I totally understand what the mac guys are worried about losing those precious fish because it takes a long time for them to grow that big . Fish that big are not good for eating but they can be . Personally if i wanted a mount i prefer a fiberglass one it looks better and lasts longer. I release95% of the fish i catch even walleyes. I teach my kids that you dont have to keep everything you catch because then you cant replace them after you kill them. Once they are gone they are gone. OEJ hope you have a great time caatching a bunch of macs and take one home and eat it if you like its your right.

Unfortunately, this topic brings out the worst (or some would argue the best -- depending upon their views regarding the subject) in many of our members. It appears you got your question answered before the thread was locked, so my advice (solicited or not) would be to move on with your plans and accept the fact that every time this topic is discussed on this forum the end result will be the same as it always has been.

hey one eye i agree with you that ya have evey right to keep what ever fish you want! for what ever reason you want.. with in the law that is.. there are some other guides on FG that dont have a problem letting ya keep a trophy if you want..

if you have a good boat and fishfinder there is allways the option of going it on your own.. there are a lot of lake trout in FG and a 3 or 4 day trip can get ya a nice 20 + fish with some work..

i hope you find a good guide that will get ya on the fish your looking for.

This is actually one of the reasons I rarely post anymore. Same people, arguing the same point, with the same results. (locked thread)

It just gets old.

Hope you have a great time.

Keep all the fish you want man, as long as it's in the reg., I understand we have way to many "Biologists" on this site that have no idea what they are talking about. The old saying holds true opinions are like pot holes everyone has one.[:/]
