Alright, it is a done deal. Idaho residents now pay $5. for no motor and $10. for motor on boats 10' and over. Out of staters double.
Man this thing was really thought through wasn't it. How embarrassing!
First off, why is a 10' boat more of a threat than a float tube...seriously!!! Secondly, what about the felt soles on the boots...there are allot of fishermen/women that don't use a boat, but river fish.
Third: Most pontoons use ELECTRIC motors not gas, big difference.
I get the part about charging out of staters more, but really, this just screams give me your money because it is NOT effective way to control this and I really want to see proof of where this money is going.
It would make far more sense to tack $1. more to ALL licenses.
This is a growing concern for all bodies of water, so why is the wisdom of Idaho ONLY worried about boats over 10 feet. Like I said, not a whole lot of research behind that bill.

you got it right it just screams give me your money. I have heard they are making there employes take pay cuts. i think we are going to see alot of dumb things like this in the next couple of years until the economy rights its self out. I am with you though just raise the license a couple bucks to comp for this rather than make ticky tack laws.

So where do we go to get this boat launch permit? Same place as a fishing license? I am in Utah, so it will be $20 for me right? For the whole year? How about a military discount, especially since I wont be here half the summer due to being deployed to Afgahnistan!!! [mad]

I live up here and don't know where to get the permit! I didn't even know this thing passed. I guess I better figure it out before I launch the drift boat Wednesday.[mad]

Can one of you locals tell us where to get the permit?
Easy choice for me as I have an 11 1/2' pontoon or a 9' pontube. Both are rowable and motorable...so looks like the 9' er for Idaho and it is free[crazy]
This really makes sense[shocked]

I have had my boat out also. I have not heard anything about this fee. I checked DMV and nothing there. I also looked at State of Idaho Parks and Recreation in the boat section and nothing there either. This could get interesting.

According to those reports, nothing is official yet. The governor has to sign the bill and then there will be a date set when things will go into affect. This could take 6 months or more. They also have to design the sticker, make them, distribute them to all counties along with the rules and also figure out who gets the money. I would be surprised to see this happen this year. Maybe for 2010.

I think when it comes to the IDF&G its ALWAYS about the BUCK!!! no not the wild ones the GREEN ones lol... they can get brand new trucks every other year and keep them running all day long (even when gas was $4 a gallon) but they need more money so they raise lic. and fee's all the time and now this "pay to launch" fee??? what next a "pay to think about fishing fee????" it bothers me that the fish and game does this but all we can do is complain....... but im with you flygoddess i would like to see PROOF of what and where this money is going and for........

wait until they up the trailer licences to haul those boats the boat fee is how it started here in michigan...then they got the trailers...it aint over yet.

And isn't it wonderful that the fancy sticker is going to cost said amount, so that is
money right there that is NOT going to fix the problem.
It would be soooooo much easier to just raise the licenses.....OH WAIT!!!! they are. April 15th the license goes up $16. per person! $96.......good thing I quit smoking[laugh][laugh]
But what about the pelicans? Got a plan for them?[

They did raise the license fees. They will go up next year.
My wifes toon is a 6 ft with motor no fee
Mine 11 1/2 ft with motor so a fee.
Maybe our legislators need to pull there heads out of their ----- and think about this a bit more. One things for sure, they will make some money from it.
I was at henry's last fall there was a boat wash at the county boat dock none at the cliffs whats the point of having them when they aren't at all the points of entry.

the F&G isn't in on this one

Like LoveMyLavro said when he posted the thread on the issue, it's a money scam that's the gov's idea, so it's pretty safe bet it'll pass. As for the govt thinking something through first and basing it on scientific facts, when has that happened?

Great news!!!! Starting May 1, all existing taxes have been repealed!! No Income, property, gas, boat, etc etc. It's all too complicated. Starting May 1, meters will be installed on all toilets, and they won't work without scanning in your number. You, and all your kids will have one. Every time you flush, the Government debits $50. Then they just pass the dough out to the states on a per/capita basis. Simple. Easy. No accountants. No IRS. No DMV, or anything else. Easy to raise the fee. Fair for everybody. Take away your card, and you'll have to go in the woods, and that would be illegal, and the Pooper Troopers would descend on you. Sattelites are in place to do random checks on illegal activity. Serious consequences for violators, Our obesity problems will be solved at the same time, because eating less would be the only way to save taxes. Oh, by the way. The transactions will be routed through the International Bank of Beijing. Here's where I'd normally put the

y face, but it just doesn't seem appropriate right now. Moderator. Please feel free to whack this post. I'm getting used to gettin whacked.

Lol, it wouldn't surprise me though if they thought they could get away with it[crazy]

I did a little research on the [url "mailto:F@G"]F@G[/url] website and came up with this. ---> [url "http://fishgame.idaho.gov/cms/fish/programs/Idaho%20Aquatic%20Nuisance%20Species%20Plan.pdf"]Idaho Aquatic Nuisance Species Plan[/url]
Page 43 is where it starts talking about needing money and where they will get the money. This has been in the works for a few years now.
