Took my buddy Adam out to try and get him on some fish. Windy as all get out. Made it to the lake around 1pm. Went to WT is search of crappie, too windy there. Ended up on the river side of hbsp fishing for a few bass. I let Adam throw my lone xr50. He hooks one on the first cast. Seeing that he has never caught a bass or crappie before, not sure if he has ever caught any fish before today, he got a little too excited and just started reeling and never set the hook. Well that one spit the lure right back at him. A short while later I did it again, scream this one is big, never set the hook. Just reeling and reeling. I told him to calm down ease it in, but that did not happen. Fish spits lure out for the second time. I tried for some crappie back in those coves, but no luck, and way too much wind. Moved across the river to try for crappie, too windy. Went down river into a cove for crappie, too windy. So I tell Adam throw this xr in every direction. He finally lands a tiny bass. He's happy, i'm happy. I was chunking a crankbait, but no takers in the water we were trying to fish. It was just like the ocean during a hurricane everywhere I wanted to go, so we headed out. Made one final stop on a brush pile I know of, that was close to out of wind. I landed 4 nice crappie, all full of eggs so they all went back. They were on a, 8 count, ringer stinger. Also landed one bream. We left around 5. I think we spent more time moving than fishing today. Absolutely horrible day with the waves and wind. Hope my hull is still in one piece. About put the front of the boat under water going about 10mph, craziness. I was glad that Adam finally felt his line get stretched, even though he lost more than he landed he was happy. I have been spoiled the last two days on Taz's boat with trolling motor that actually moves the boat in the wind, very different than mine. Don't worry you all I have not lost the touch of catching bass. I'll be good and ready come Friday night! My buddy Lefty caught a 15.75" crappie last night on possum creek on minnows, emoEek , what a monster. Those came in 3.5 ft of water.
