We got a late start at fish lake and went straight to 85 feet to see if we could catch some macs. Marked lots of macs on the finder and they would hang around for a while but would not bite. After about three hours of mac fishing we went shallow and were catching tons of perch at 20 feet. Bows, and splake at about 30 feet. Ended up with just under 50 fish. The roads are great, and the ice is at least 24", but the edges were getting a little soft when we left. There were 3" pools of water on top of the ice by the edges. Check out the splake with the teeth marks, probably a big mac looking for dinner! We also had a golden eagle steal three fish from us. The eagle was fearless, it would swoop in about 20 feet from us and just grab the fish and fly off.

[cool][#0000ff]I'm guessing those teeth marks are from a tiger muskie. More than a few in that lake.[/#0000ff]

I would say a Mack. We see that all the time on the bows in the summer.

Good report, nice fish,[Wink]

I would say you're right, but it wasn't a big mack or that fish would've been digested and forgot about by now. The little ones like 10lbs will hit splake that size, a 40 inch fish would inhale that fish with little difficulty.

Those marks on that splake are from my fingernails as I was trying to grab him when I was there in February.[Image: happy.gif]

Way to go; I wish I could make it down there before and just after the ice vanishes. Maybe...
