I couldn't get any response on the Oregon Forum, so maybe some of you guys/gals from Idaho might give me some advice for fishig Wallowa Lake. I understand they have Kokanee and wondered if you target them the same way you would for Kokes at Flaming Gorge? Typically there you would use a dodger and Koke spoon.

Actually, the tactics used in the Boise area work better at Wallowa, than the pink hoochies, spoons, dodgers, etc. used in other areas. Pop gear and a wedding ring with shoepeg really produces over there. They can be deep, so either take lead core or better yet downriggers. Mike

Thanks for the info Mike. I'm set with downriggers to go deep, but whats "shoepeg"?

Shoepeg corn. Green Giant sells it (in cans). I take mine and soak it overnight in a little Pautzke Nectar. I'm not sure if it helps or not. Hope you slay 'em. Several years ago they were nice-sized. Mike

Oh, OK, now I gotcha..[cool] I should have known that. I grew up in Oregon and used the same stuff in the old days. Corn is outlawed in Utah for some reason..go figure?? I think I used to use the same gear at Paulina.

Thanks again for the tips. I'll be up there for a reunion in August so don't know how well the Koke fishing will be that late, but I'll give it a try anyway.[Wink]

They are late spawners; August will def. not be too late.
