The new HDS models apparently have some software issues that are being worked on One update is availiable for 5 and 7 units. There is supposed to be an update for these HDS models to run the new Navionics Platinum, supposed to have been today?? Water intrusion has been an issue seems to be only with the HDS 7, bad seal I was at BPS in Atlanta today and was talking to Marine Electronics Guru, he said Lowrance Rep was there yesterday He said the water issues was linked to the 7 and they thought that they had narrowed it down to one production line maybe one person, tech rep at Cabelas said it was the units made before March '09?? Few other issues sonar loosing bottom using see thru hull. Puck style transducers working best but some guys using skimmer epoxied to hull. Could be air bubbles or unit seems to be guys trying different options, transducers and working it out. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of the water intrusion issue. In the box of the HDS units in pack that has manuals there is a liitle piece of paper square that has serial # onit also youll see a # somewhere on it like 09/02/24 This seems to be the manufactured date or date inspected BPS guy said that was right so If you buy a 7 you might want to check this before you get into mounting/running it will save you time and money. Lowrance will get this straight, heard they are supposed to hire 26 more customer service/tech reps that will help b/c HDS line is 45-1hr wait sometimes
