[cool]wow do i ever love to fish for walleye, and when i say fish i mean fish and fish only because there has been no catching done by me this season and it is not for lack of effort. I started the season at utah lake about a month ago, I like to fish at night and wasn't picking any fish up so I decided to try days still no fish but i saw a few caught so it gave me incentive to keep trying. My fifth day outing i fished on my boat straight for 17 hours my cousin got a little one. I have since moved on to willard and am finding it very tough I have fished it 4 times, twice this week it seems the days i can fish they just wont bite my line. All in all im just glad that there are fish to fish for but on the other hand i would really like to get a bite[
]So my next plan of attack is starvation i tried it last spring but ended up going to jail for an unpaid parking ticket before i could get on the water, you better check your p andQs before you go to duchesne county[mad] i love to throw jigs someday curly someday tubes i plan on finding pebble structure and fishing shallow as i think they will be but really have no clue my family just caught a few brown trout on rapalas. I have all the gear to troll just not the patience but have heard thats the best way to fish starvation. The bioligist told me its to early for good wally action but can that really be true.? Anyways i look forward to reporting my adventures on this site and appreciate all of the good reports.

Welcome 61 mer.
Willard has been treating us pretty good this past week for eyes. Not great but OK fishing.
All our fish are coming out of 8 to 11 feet of water pulling bottom bouncers at 1 mph.
Hammered brass. dark green and halographic pearch blades have been working.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Real fishermen don't need to ask for help[sly]

When are you going to Starvation?
Early fishing has been tough but I have been able to catch a few.
Sucks about going to jail. I never speed through duchesne. Their is almost always speed traps on the weekends
I have had similar luck at utah lake and willard as you have this year.(many SKUNKS) I am lucky I work 15 min from Starvation so I am taking full advantage of fishing it this spring.
In May the fishing is unreal if you can find out where the fish are. If you cant find fish it can be very discouraging.
I am more than willing to help you out on catching that all elusive walleye. Let me know when you go out and we could meet up. I am usually fishing alone out there with my dogs.
I have fished with bouncers and lindy rigs before but I prefer throwing jigs like you because I think I can cast them all day and catch just as many fish. I have done well just dropping a jig head with a crawler over the side of the boat letting it sink to the bottom and them reel it up about 6- 12 inches off the bottom. then I set that rod down or in a rod holder and start throwing plastics while just drifting around with the wind and current. I have had fish on both poles more than once doing that. If the fishing is red hot it gets kinda crazy watching the dead stick and concentrating on workin the plastics.
good luck and seriously let me know if you want to go fishing

+1 for what FOD said. May and June are great months on Starvation. Depth is the key.
Jigging has been very productive in our 5-6 favorite spots. When we are looking for new areas we usually bottom bounce until we find fish

The cops in Duechesne Co. aren't all that bad, I leave my 5th wheel parked at one's house all summer and we do chase the walleye at Starvation on occasion. Having him with me in the boat a couple years ago actually cost one of the "Power Squadron" some bucks for wakeboarding too close to my boat, Quick call to his buddy the Park Ranger, ended the boys little escapades in hurry with an escort back to the dock and a ticket written. [:p] I heard later it was around $130.00 that is kind of an expensive buzz by some fisherman.[cool]

No planner boards.

Atta boy Pete [cool] You need to get your cop friend in your boat more often. Or put him in mine.
I'd love to be responsible for a bunch of power squadren tickets [

The cops were actually pretty cool I had a warrant and paid the consequence[
] they just told me if you have a warrant for any amount they will take you in cause they have room where as is in salt lake county it has to be over a certain $ amount to bother

That sucks either way.[:/]

He's actually the guy that use to enforce the no ATV,s on the road we use to camp on, remember. He was the deputy sheriff back then. We first met years ago when he pulled me over for a missing taillight on my ATV trailer when I was comming out of that dusty old road after a day of scouting ( I had actually broken it trying to turn around in the sage brush). He wasn't going to give me a ticket until he seen my plates PACKFAN and being a Cowboy fan he said he was going to start writting. We had a big laugh & have been great friends ever since that day and he actually introduced me to the guy that lets the wife and hunt on his property.
