Well I am back a day early but it was a great trip none the less. As for the title if you havnt heard the song the stanley stomp check it out its by Muzzie Braun a stanley local.
Well anyway back to my report. We headed out Tuesday morning and got the squaw creek at around 2 we fished for about 3 hours I had 2 fish on played one out and and he came unhooked at my feet and had what felt like a B fish on for a minute or so before he shook loose. But that was it. Around 5 we headed up to stanley and grabbed a bite to eat and watched the jazz game.
Wendsday morning it was cold, not the 13 the forcast said but a windy 27. We got to the hole at 6 and had a hit on the first pass. I dont think we picked up our first fish until around 8 but then it was on. Between 3 of us we landed 23 fish by 12. And had alot more that shook loose or that we missed hooking. After noon the fishing died. We tried to pick up that 3rd fish, sense we didnt want to limit out while the bite was good. But we never did fished until 5 and headed back in. This morning we got up early to another cold morning and hit the river by 6 we hit them early today catching 5 by sun up I kept 2 and grandpa kept 1. We went back down to squaw creek wanting that big B. Fished until about 2 without a bite. We talked to the guy that owns the gas station there in clayton he said the cage has had close to 30 fish in it now. There were 8 more put in while we were there. They said that those fish are going to be used up the east fork. the f&g said that they have got more fish in the cages than have made it to the traps up the east fork "19". We stopped on the way home and looked down into the east fork and saw 2 big B's heading up. There were alot of what we guessed by there size to be chinnok fry coming down there were thousands of them and big.
I will get some pics of the fish we kept tomorrow morning wouldnt you know it i forgot my dang camera. Oh and my deoderant. I think it may have kept the compitition away.
oh was going to say the hatchery had 1650 fish as of sunday they hadnt updated the board sense.
