So I set out friday to catch whatever was on the prowl. I started my day down below Preston trying to dig up some final spawning walleye. After about 2 hours of nothing I decided to move up the Narrows and try below the dam. First cast started off with about a 15 in brown and then nothing for another hour or so. Moved up to the river above the res. Ran into about 4 or 5 people fishing one stretch. Sounded like they had caught a few walleye but nothing of any size so probably the last stragglers on the males. I fished above and below them for a bit but it wasnt quite the quality of water they were fishing and they didnt seem to be moving any time soon so it was time to swap to some trout just to get me some more fish on the day.
Next stop was at the canal right near grace. Hooked up on several fish and got in a couple. Nothing huge but they were smacking it like they were starving. Next stretch I jumped in on was below Lava on the Porteneuf, a little bit down from the steel bridge. Ended up catching about 20 fish through that stretch. Hard fishing getting through all the willows but I think that would be why there were so many fish. I took a few pictures when I could get the fish to a dry spot and get out the camera. Was in the water about waste deep all day and sorry for the pictures didnt have anything but my size 12 shoe to compare the fish too. Heading out again tomorrow with my 3 year old son and a couple friends with the kids, so back with more report tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you took quite a drive and ended up in the fish.

Good Job. Were you flyfishing, lure, bait?

good report. I think the eyes are about done also my last couple times out i couldnt get them to hit so i think they must be spawning. How was the water up at lava?

I was using spinners while catching the trout. The water through that stretch I was on is always clear because it goes through all that slow moving area and has the springs. The end of the run where I finish up was really murky with the water coming through the little pump house.

Appreciate the fishing report and the photos. Look like some nice Browns there.

So I was back out stomping around South East Idaho again but this time I took out my three year old son and my buddy with his four year old. I didnt have much for ideas so we started out our trek going to the dam at AF. The water was pretty calm and looking pretty good, which in turn pulled all the people out of their houses because it was a packed house. Wasnt much for fishing spots with the kids so we just decided to skip it and went up to McTuckers. Pulled in with the huge crowd there at about 1 or so and did some bait fishing and some spinners but didnt get any action at all. Water was pretty clear but seems to be a good batch of moss already taking over the ponds. After about 2 or so hours of no action we hopped over to Crystal Springs which seemed to be holding more people that there are probably fish. So once again we passed and went to try one final stop at Tilden Bridge. The Snake was flowing to the brim. Deep chocolate water with some heavy debris flowing in the water. Pretty much called it a day after seeing how bad the water was. So all in all a very uneventful day but the boys had fun and we are already getting the boat out to go up the Narrows on Tuesday, so I will be back with another blurb in 2 days.
