Hello! I have been lurking for over a year, and just wanted to say thank you to all who make this board what it is. I've never seen anything like it. I've learned a ton, and hope to be able to contribute something of value as a I post more.

I am going down to Sand Hollow and Quail Creek this weekend. I'm planning on spending most of my time at Sand Hollow.

FYI. I just called Sand Hollow, and they said the water temp is 62 degrees.

I have never been to Sand Hollow before, and I'll be fishing from my float tube. I was talking to a friend who was telling me where the best places to float tube Sand Hollow. I've attached a quick little graphic. Do you guys think the places shaded in yellow would be easy to launch a float tube at?

Also, I'm assuming the bass will be in prespawn mode. I'm planning on dropshotting senko-type worms and minnows and grubs. Would you guys recommend any other types of presentations for bass this time of year at Sand Hollow and Quail.

Thanks a ton, and I'll be sure to post a report with pics!

go around the whole island not just the one side cast towards the rocks and you will definately pick up a few there was some people catching them on hula grubs but dropshotting was by far the best method for us about a week ago be sure to post how you do!

Thanks Brendo!

I've done a little more research, and made a few phone calls. One of the guys in the fishing department at the St. George Sportsmans thought they would be ON spawning beds this weekend.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that? Shouldn't I avoid fishing WHILE they are spawning?

Thanks,
James

I have heard thats when the fishing is red hot there!!! I was there last weekend fishing off the rocks and pulled in a few nice LMB before the wind got too bad. But I think they are still pretty deep, hopefully they start getting more shallow because thats when they get aggressive! My brother and I were planning on heading down there on thurs for the weekend, but the weatehr is suppose to be windy and nasty. So we postponed it till next weekend. Let us know how you do....

if the water is 62 degrees you should not have a problem catching. it should be dynamite. especially with plastic. maybe try topwater. i will be down there in 2 weeks. good luck pineviewfisher

During spawn, will bass react more to fast presentations over slow ones?

It seems like any bite you get during spawn is due to a reactive, protective bass, not a hungry bass. Is that correct?

the female will attack anything that is on the nest. She usually will pick it up and spit it out of the nest. The male will attack anything that is by the nest. so to your question yes usually protecting the nest you will get a thump.

[:/] It'd OK to fish during the spawn, but PLEASE, PLEASE, release them so there will be some fish in the future.
