Here's a salty water report for you guys. We made the annual Pilgrimage down to the Gulf Shores area specifically Ft Morgan again this year. Today I was able to sneak off a few hours and hit the water for a little bit. Word on the skreet was that the sheepshead were biting so our initial plan was to do a little herding and then see what we could find later on. Well it was a good thing we were running behind this morning as we go to the bait shop to pick up 6 doz. live skrimps cuz it seems this baitshop (only one for 15 miles with any live skrimps left) was run by a banker. It didn’t open till 8:00!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, so we waited, got our shrimp, and then hit the water. The first stop was a rig platform that had produced in years passed. Besides the fact that we had to move three times for the big 60 foot supply boat we ended up bageling after the first hour. We decided to try spot #2 were we bageled again 'cept for a few hard heads. We also broke off TWO ropes trying to stay tied on to the rig (it was a little rough). Since it had gotten so rough out there my BnL had gotten that “not so easy feelin'" so we decided to move. Sand island lighthouse yielded a ton of hardheads and several nice shovelnose sharks. After that we headed back toward the ramp and stopped at one last rig for another shot at the sheepies. As soon as we dropped bait, it was BAM BAM BAM for the next hour and half until we were completely out of shrimp. We nailed them pretty good, not only getting several really nice keepers we also caught some mangrove snappers, a nice redfish and of course, several more hardheads. By 1:45 we were beat and completely out of bait, se we headed in.
