Thinking of making a trip up there this weekend from Utah (I assume it is ice-free). I have a couple of questions because I have never have fished it from a boat, only on the ice. Any tips or tricks up there? I am not a big troller and prefer to drift or anchor and vertical jig. Is trolling the best way to go or will vertical jigging work okay?

My other question has to do with registration on the boat. I heard there is a new fee for idaho for boats. Is this true and where do I find out info or purchase a sticker? I hope this is something I can pick up at the gas station in Malad.

Thank you in advance for any help.

I dont think the registration thing has passed and went into effect yet. So if your boat is registered you should be good to go. I here the water is still fairly low? But Devils is filling good. I prefer Devils just because of the Kokes[fishin]!! Good luck

As long as your boat is currently registered in UT you are fine, new law hasnt been finalized, as far as the conditions there is no ice(or at least there wasnt 2 days ago) I tubed it with a buddy and we caught quite a few nothing to big 2lbs being the biggest all caught with spinners, there was a boat trolling with a wobbler doing pretty well several people on the bank catching fish here and there with the typical worm/power bait hope it helps gl! oh, also hit Devils and Weston the same day Devils was chocolate and weston was even worse as far as water color good luck !

I'm glad you mentioned Weston. I was thinking about heading up there on Friday, but now I don't think I'll waste my time. I guess Deep Creek it is again since everything else seems to be muddy.

Good info guys. Musky hunter mentioned the water level up there. I have a 19 foot fish/ski cuddy cabin boat. Any issues with launching there?
