My brother in law and my self made the trip to Bull frog this last week end hoping to get in on some of the bass fishing bad idea the wind was bad. Saturday could not put a boat in the water to much wind. I think the wind was over the 45 MPH that they claimed we fished from shore for a while until I could through a 1/4 oz jig head and not even get it wet it would float like a kite. Sunday was much nicer as far as weather fishing was a little slow with all the tournaments going on it has been fished pretty hard. We did get into a few small mouth but every were we went there were bass boats you about had to take a number to fish. We decided to switch to Stripers but got skunked we could not find them. We end the day fishing in Bull frog bay and had the best luck there. On Monday we pulled the boat up to Hite and fished there fishing was much better up there we got into some very nice Crappies a few small mouth a even one very nice Wall eye. We only had a half day to fish so we had to go before the evening bite turned on. I think the fronts moving through there had them off but the ones that we cleaned were not ready to spawn yet they are still at least a week away maybe two. [fishin]

Nice report. So on Sunday you launched out of Hite, did I read that right? How was the ramp & debris in the water? I'm hoping to launch out of there on the 7th.

The water is not to the cement ramp we launched on the dirt below the ramp if you have a very big boat it might get a little tricky. As far as the water it was very muddy on the main channel but the canyons were good. There is alot of debris in the water and we found the bottom with the prop a few spots from the silt build up. Good luck and good fishing. If you find the stripers let me know.

Thank you very much for the info.
Couple of more questions if you don't mind:
Are there any services at Hite right now? Fuel, ice, etc?
How far down the lake did you have to get before you no longer had to worry about the silt buildup?
Really appreciate the information. Haven't launched at Hite before and I plan to next week...trying to figure out what I'm in for.

There is no marina there anymore but there was a little store on the hill above the ramp I did not go in and see what they had. It seems like they did have gas pumps but I am not sure if they were on and working. They do have the rest rooms open and potable water on but the fish cleaning station is closed. There is not camp ground it is all primitive camping. As far as the silt if you stay in the current you should be ok. We hit it trying to go up the little canyon across from the ramp. The silt is piling up on the outside edges. The good news is there is no fees there. Hope that helps.

The wife and I were down on 24 -27. launched at Bullfrog and went up to mile marker 128. Camped east side of good hope. Friday boated 40 fish. Crappie, smallies, largemouth, and a few walleye. Saturday you could not pay me enough money to take my boat on the water. Just hung out at camp and still managed to hook 20 or so smallies & Crappie. Sunday was beautiful, a little chilly but if you found the cove with the right structure it was loaded with fish. We hooked over eighty on Sunday. You should have a great time this weekend.
GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks for the info. Your report really isn't making it easy for me to wait until Thursday!
What were you catching the Crappie & Walley on if you don't mind me asking? I've caught a few down there, but not a whole lot.

Just casting tube jigs, green with red flakes. 1/8 and 1/16 oz heads. We found the Crappie at the back of the coves next to dead brush.

We found the Crappie in the same places. Back of the coves in the brush we used a small chartreuse minnow but from what I have seen any thing chartreuse they won't leave alone. Light jig heads and very slow seems to be there thing. The thing about Carppieis if find one there is usually a bunch they are not usually alone. The smallies were all sitting on rocky points for us. Hay pac-a-load-pete did you find any stripers?
