Got out to Willard yesterday afternoon, the three of us started trolling around 3. We had our first wiper shortly after 4. After that it was wiper after wiper, we were all using silver rattle traps trolling by the light pole. We ended up leaving with our limit at 7pm. Mostly 3-4 pounders. We were trolling about 11 feet of water. Water temp was about 57-58. Hopefully the pictures come out, never posted pics on here before.

I fished the north dike for a couple of hours and caught nada throwing plastics. I had one strike but tried to set too hard too soon and pulled it out.
I talked to a guy in a boat who picked up a wiper in front of me. He said earlier he caught a carp and a smallie.

My first wiper is still out there somewhere. I've got most of next week off work so I'll be trying again.

We saw a couple guys catching them on the south side from the banks. Dont know what they were using though.

Has the fishing turned on for wipers yet, or are we still a couple weeks away?

I REALLY want to get into them on my fly rod this year. Anyone have experience with this?

My last 2 trips have been very productive. Yesterday we limited out, and this past weekend me and a buddy caught half a limit each. Sorry, don't know anything about fly fishing.

If you want to flyfish for Wipers you need to do it at Pueblo Reservoir in Pueblo, Colorado (ask kochanut). That is where I am from and the World Record Wiper was caught there on a Flyrod 33 LBS or something close to that!!! Willard is a good place for them, dont know about fishing for them on a flyrod, but again if you ever get the chance go to Pueblo do it. Average Wiper there is bigger than the state record here in Utah[Wink]!!!!

To catch a 33lb wiper I'll drive to pueblo!

That's a mighty big wiper.

im in pueblo right now, been mainly hitting trout, check out my dandy little football on my antero report on the colorado boards. anyway, when i get back fom my powell trip im going to hit the pueblo res for wipers on my fly rod. i always tend to slay the wipers on rapals near submerged tress, this will be the first year im after them with my fly rod, ill post pics and such on the colorado board, and make a little note on here for you guys.

Here is the current colorado state record wiper 26 lbs 15 oz. I'd be happy to catch one half that size.
