I got a extra $600.00 that the wife dont know about. I am thinking about going to Cabela's this weekend. I would like two new fish finders for my bassboat. I dont know much about them though. What can I get for that money???

I was thinking about donating it to HookJaw for his fishing trip but that thought only lasted about 2 seconds.... lol

I am still Undecided, I mainly fish for bass and dont use the fishfinder much. but I am starting to like walleye/wiper fishing also. That's why I am thinking about getting a good one. Does the one you mention do the side also?? what about one that does 3-D bottom view??

whick model are you refering to???

I dont know much about the side view ones I think they are a few more pennys? I dont do much bass fishing I normaly fish Bear Lake the Gorge and Willard. I like the X-135 nice unit with plenty of power for about 400 bucks. Hopefully some of these bass dudes will chime in and give you a little info on something that would work good for bass? Good luck!!

Cabelas would be the last place I would go to get a deal, but for $600 I bet you could find a Lowrance 522c online somewhere. I would buy one that will take a Navonics Chip.

The HB side finders are going to run you a bit more for the 5" screen. Keep in mind the side finder will not work properly mounted on a trolling motor. The SF tranducer needs to be mounted on the transom and to get a good picture you need to be going 5mp.

I was at Cabelas yesterday and they were clearing out LCX - 27C units for $699. If I would have had just a little more cash on me I would have picked it up and I don't even need a new GPS. I remember that unit going for close to a grand before the new HD finders from Lowrance came out.

I went also to cabela's yesterday and on the way there I decided I did not need a new fish finder. I am more of a bass fisherman and hit the shorelines more than out. I already have two fishfinders, but they are just older models. Instead I opted to get a new hydrofoil for my motor to help me get on plane quicker, a new boat cover(dont fit so going back) and some other items. Spent about $230.00 so I still have some stash left for my next trip there.

Spend the extra driving to Vegas and go to the bar.
