I just got back from CJ Strike a couple of hours ago.
The weather was over cast and looked like rain. The wind was from the east, and not too bad. The day started out bad. I was eating breakfast and broke a tooth. I mean right in half! I had been planning on going fishing and I was not going to let that stop me.
Today was not a great crappie day. I got 10 crappie most were between 10" and 12" I kept 5. I caught 15 trout that were nice and big. I released all be three of the trout. The trout stole the show today. They were fat, sassy, and Thick. One was 23" long and looked like a long football. The rest were from there down to 15". The smallest one I took home was 15". The only trout I kept were the ones I hooked too deep. I wish I would have kept more, we ate them tonight and they were great. The trout were fighters. Flipping in the air and pulling line, I can't get over it.
At 1:00 pm the rain started and the wind kicked up big time. The white caps were up to 2 feet high when I quit. It was too dangerous to stay out where I was at. At one point I was busy taking the last trout of the day off the line and I realized that I was being blown away, and the waves were coming over the side of the float tube.
I had my life vest on but it was just too much for me to be out there. On the way home the weather looked like I should have stayed. Oh well I will have to wait for next time. No pictures today my son didn't get to go. Ron

Sounds like a fun outing (except for the strong wind). Curious how far uplake trout are caught on CJ Strike?

He Idahoron was just wondering if the construction was done at the dam yet? Do they have Power and Water for RV's Yet? I am planning a trip and don't want to haul water in the rv if I don't have too. If anyone could tell me that would be great.....

Thanks

Hey that still sounds like a great day of fishing. I'm a trout fisher so I would have had a blast. I fish the winter months for trout on CJ and this season it was REALLY slow. They usually group up in the more shallow areas around Jan-Feb is the hot time. This yr not so good. I wonder if it's the dredging they have done along the banks with all the new construction?? Anyway, were you in the narrows when you got into the trout, up towards cove arm or around the dam? You don't have to give away your "spot" I'm just trying to narrow my search[Wink]
