I was driving back to SLC last nigh and of coarse I could not drive past the turn off without checking out the lake conditions. When I got their I could not help myself but throw out a few casts. I fished for about 2 min before I got my first fish. It was the best one of the day for me. 22 incher weighed about 4 #. WOW I cant believe it. The fish moved back in from Sunday when I was not able to buy a fish. Crankem was out in the main lake catching all of them.[] So Monday they are back in the channel and probably all over the lake now. No signs of spawning coming out of the fish. I think it is here. HOT ACTION that is. After the first fish I caught 3 more in the next 30 min. They all ranged from 17 -22". It was very fun to have that bite going on. It was a little off throwing because after I caught fish so fast the bite just died off for the twilight. I think the weather had a lot to do with this. When the fish were biting the sun was peaking in and out of the darker clouds that were moving by. But when it was steady cloud cover the fish seemed to turn off completely.
I was planning on keeping my fish today for a fry. I got one on the stringer. I caught another it was a nice male around 19" as I am putting him on the dinner chain he does some magic, flips up taking the wire that I have not yet hooked together stabs me in the had with his dorsal fin and is back in the drink to live another day. Lucky guy. Oh well I think I have enough to feed a few.
I was not the FOD today though. I walked up on a couple of guys that had a 5 gallon bucket with about 15 walleye in it. They said the fishing was great. they had one that was about the same size as my biggest but the rest were little male torpedoes and a couple 12-16 inch smallies. I think the fishing was red hot for a couple hours before I even showed up. They said one guy left early because he got bored catching so many[crazy] I dont think he understands what he was in the middle of. Anyway I had a great time and it was another day that I am glad I decided to check out the lake on my way home. It wont be a question anymore weather or not I do a quick look see.
PICS fist one is the 20" that I caught on SAT. Second is the 22" one I caught last night. MMMMM
