Hit good old Bountiful Pond today, came away with a pretty nice kitty, nice for what I usually catch anyway. The second pic is of something sticking out of his side, it's like he got stung or something. This may be a dumb question but any idea what that is?

Catfish have 3 of those. 2 on their side and 1 on top. Call em, stingers, barbs, spines, whatever you want, but they do kinda hurt if they stick you.

Hey ouch,
Nice eatting size kitty,
Looks like he eat another kitty for dinner / looks like the barb is poking out from inside of the kitty I have seen it happen before,
They eat other cat fish and the barbs will get stuck inside of them,
Now that is what you call a heart burn [sly]
Did you clean it and see what it was ?

Looks like an average Kitty for B Pond. Keep it up, that is the perfect eating size. The state stocks them at about 17-18 inches all summer, they are good eating, good fighting and will cooperate. Hotdogs, maunfactured bait and carp meat are all good baits for them in that pond.
When you take your pics, lay the fish the other way on the deck so we can count the boards and estimate the size better. Pics of fish need something in them for scale.

No offense, but he was quite a bit bigger than what I would call average. 26" a solid 4+ lbs, for me anyway that's a damn good cat.

No offence taken, that's why I said to lay them accross the boards the other way. At 5.5 inches per 2x6 deck plank we would know that it was almost 26" without you telling us.
Pics with no scale are just that.

One thread and I already know why so many folks stop posting here, thanks Troll.

Thanks HP, your right. No Kitty in the belly, but I did find a couple more of those inside, usually I'm strictly catch and release but he had some good meat on him, so I thought I'd try a little Whisker fish out, any suggestions for cooking it?

Wait what? Is it just me, or did you really just make a post complaining about people getting offended, when you were apparently offended enough to feel the need to make a lengthy post to defend your buddy?
Point is, I am not a great fisherman but I know some who are and they COULD lend some valuable insight into many of the waters you fish, but they're not here because of stupid things like this.
FOR ME as I stated it was a very nice fish. You can think it's a guppy for all I care, I'm sure there are many out there with far better equipment and experience than I who regularly pull these in. That's not the point!
The first time he said something, yeah ok I can see that but to make the same stupid point again was just dumb. In fact when someone is trying to share an experience with you, why on gods green earth would you take the time to make pointless, negative comments?
If people don't have a pic and they post something, they get ridiculed and apparently now, if someone posts something and it's not up to YOUR standards it gets ridiculed. If that's what this is coming to, why would anyone waste their time here?
I just started posting here, I don't have anything against Troll or you, but seriously grow up!!
Most of all, thanks a bundle TD, your right for the most part we should just ignore the nonsense.

You guys are absolutely right, thanks to everybody for the support!!
Catching fish and good folks,
NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!

First off I don't care what size fish someone catches or if they post pics, the whole point was that Troll (who is not my friend) stated that it was an average size fish, I don't fish BP nor do I fish for Catfish, he just stated that it was average. Maybe he fishes there 7 days a week and he just stated that it was average because maybe he catches that size everyday. He was not putting you down he just stated that it was average size.
I have never had posted a negative comment about anyone's lack of pictures or size of fish, it seemed to me that you took offense to someone calling your fish average. I catch average fish all the time and if someone pointed out that it was average I would agree, so sorry that your feel bads were hurt because of your average fish.

that looks like an average fish you are holding in your avatar[

Like I said, I catch average fish all the time, now if I caught it out of the gutter it might not be average[

I really was just trying to help. Sorry if I offended you.
From the picture you posted the fish looked like an average 17 to 18" fish from BP to me. A 26" fish from there is by no means average. It is a big one. I do fish BP alot and specificaly for catfish. I can show you where the stumps have been sunk and where the pieces of culvert are that the cats hide in, I know the deep spots and the places that you can cast to them from shore. I explored the thing while it was being dug and have every year since.
I was simply trying to point out how to align your fish on the deck boards so that someone like me would not mistake your great fish for an average fish.
Sorry if I upset you, that was not my intent at all. Please keep posting and posting pictures of what you caught, with scale or not. But if you want people to be able to recognise how big your fish is, without you telling us (which you did not do in your 1st post) we need to have a reference to scale it from.
I assure you that I am not "Dumb" and when I am trying to teach someone something that I think will help them I repeat it until they get it, with some people that is many times.
Now what I have learned is that you don't want to learn anything from me, so I will never try to teach you something again, kind of like those who don't post here anymore, except, I just won't post to you.
