[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Favorable wind and sea conditions for both days on a weekend---a first for cod fishing this spring! Both groups, Carl Bellizzi from Trumbull, CT and Yalkin Demirkaya from New York, NY, found cod fishing east of the Bank to be “As good as it gets”.[/size][/font]

[size 3][font "Times New Roman"]On Saturday, Carl’s group fished the deep-water to the east of the Bank. Clam-bait was most productive for mostly medium cod in the 8-15 pound class. Even with the fast drift, the group was limited out by noon. [/font][/size]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Yalkin’s group from the Big Apple had similar results on Sunday-flat calm seas and excellent cod fishing. Capt. Al on the JANET B, never made it out to the deep-water.[/size][/font]
[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Finding a good pile of cod on the backside of the Bank, Yalkin’s group worked the pile with clam-baits. Mostly medium cod and one wolfish came over the rails. The pool winner was a cod in the twenty-pound class.[/size][/font]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Due to the cold water and good concentration of cod both on the bank and in the deep-water to the east, we expect the cod fishing to hold through July.[/size][/font]
