I fished hard on Saturday and ended up with some hungry smallies. Guys in boats were doing better than me because they were on the move looking for active fish and they were getting the lion's share. Damn I wish I had a boat! Two guys in a bass boat were fishing shoreline structure and one of them hit a decent 2 lb'r. We had a short dialogue and they were curteous and answered my questions about water temerature and such. I didn't feel jealous because of being limited to the shoreline because I catch plenty of nice fish from the bank and have had some great times at EC and Jordanelle. I thought about putting on my waders but got into that lazy mode of no instant gratification from bank casting so I didn't try harder. I should have because the one guy I saw slipping into crappie annhialation mode in his boat got into the cover and I knew he wouldn't have a bad report. He got 4 early strawberry bass and tore the heck out of the smallies. I was casting off of the shoreline in the state park for tiger trout boils which were moving around quickly and going crazy at different places for a few minutes. They were nipping my spinners regularly but hooking them was a different story. I would rather catch a black spotted slab but no complaints about the tigers... they just need to get bigger before they inhale anything that moves. I inquired of the success of the crappie hunter when he came in to dock. He was a big man named Jimmy who seemed to have a heart as big as he was. What a cool dude and I look forward to nailing some pan fryers with him. Tight lines BFTr's.[

i fished there on Sunday and got skunked. Nothing! Well, i am from shoreline for trout. But strange, not even a bite. It makes me think the stocked fish are all gone or there were not enough stocking. I drove around to the dam, but no luck either. It is good to know someone is doing well.

I hit E.C. on thursday after work and we layed the trout out trooling. We were running pop-gear trailed by #7 broke back rainbows out 100 ft.
We even caught a small tiger just under 12". They're gready lil things, I can't wait till they get as big as the Birch Creek ones are, they're as fiesty as the Berry cuts are.
I wish I knew the the bass were biting maybe throw some plastics.
Still a gr8 day!
Masta out.... peace!

[font "Courier New"][#000080][size 3]What area of the shore were you fishin'? Last year, you could get bass from right beside the docks.
I don't think I could ever get by the dam... I don't know my way around well enough to drive there, and it's quite a hike on foot from where I park near the launch ramp that I know of (only know of one... only been to EC twice, and once was with a guide!)
Speaking of guides.... *pm to Cliff to pester him about it again!*

I got into the smallies only once last year and that was on the east side just past the point that takes you down towards the inlet. We were running lil tough guys under bobbers. We lucked out from a nice wind that let us drift that hole side for about 500 yds.
Plan on hitten it Friday maybe, I would love some good advice on what to throw cause I'm just learin bass stuff, cept for our beloved wipers.
Keep it reel!
