We ran up river to our first spot but the water looked like a milkshake and produced zero fish so we abandoned that and headed back down to fish some sloughs and secondary points. We doubled up for our first two fish which were twin line touchers. Caught several more fish on a point off a spawning flat but all were short. I think the Crank bite is fixing to crank up we were catching one most every cast but the shorties were all we could catch. Ran on down river about 10:30 to another slough and in our first ten minutes we finished our limit and I caught this 6.5 on soft plastics in about 5 feet of water. It was probably the best fighting fish I have ever caught and I would have swore it was a smallmouth by the aerobatics. The fight lasted about 2 minutes and had me from the front of the boat to the back she really wanted no part of my net and with 10 pound flourocarbon I didnt want to rush her. Beat the bank the rest of the day and caught a ton of fish just nothing else big. Saw a 4-5 pounder that was guarding a bed but couldnt get her to bite. Ended the day with 16 pounds and some sore thumbs. It sure was fun and anyone who still hasn't fished a CBA should give it a try.
