Does anybody watch the local outdoor show Jared Scott Outdoors. If so what do you think. I like the show when he is fishing or hunting, but it can be a little boring when the whole show is about a scout group going camping or something. I did win a really nice camp chef stove by submitting a photo on his photo of the week contest. Here is a link to his website you can submit a photo and win a campchef stove and check out his video clips, I like the Salmon clip, and the sturgeon episode was awesome.

Any ways just wanted to hear what everybody thought about our local outdoor show.

I like most of Jared Scott's shows. It is tough because I always compare it to the late great Doug Miller outdoor show from Utah. It takes time and money to get going. I am sure his show will get better as he becomes better known and can get more funding. Just like this forum all I really want is learn more about tips and techniques if it is entertaining its a bonus.

It's a genre that's needed in this area. It's commercial heavy, and has other things that would be easy to criticize, but it must be appreciated how difficult it is to produce a program of this nature. Expensive too. Thus the heavy commercial load. I hope he stays with it, and finds ways to improve the show. It'll only happen if sportsmen and women support it. Or, we could watch "The Cougar". Now there's an uplifting, entertaining way to waste an hour of your time. Not!

I totally agree....with as much "crap" that is on tv anymore his show is great entertainment! I think I will see what I can do to support it and spread the word. It will only get better and the more support the less commercial time needed. I still need to submit a few pics and have a chance at winning a stove!

I'm a faithfull Jared Scott watcher, and a couple weeks ago I figured out that after Jared Scott on Sundays is a show called Columbia Country, which is filmed in places all over the pacific northwest. It's really good too.

I've talked to Jared Scott a couple of times, and he said he grew up in Utah watching a local outdoor show they had down there. Probably the Doug Miller show. He has tried to model his show after that. I think his show is starting to do a lot better as far as sponsorship. Before he was working full time as a Chiropractor and doing the show, rumor has it that he is now doing the show full time. My Nephew is in the scout group that is on the show all the time, and my Brother in law is a frequent guest. I told my brother in law next time he calls to do a show I'll gladly pack the camera gear around if I can go along. I think it would be cool to be part of an outdoor show. My wife says I better stick to my day job [frown]

I have never seen his show, but after looking at a few of his videos, I would be interested in watching the show. I do not usually watch local channels is probably the reason I have not seen it. I usually only watch Satelitte and now that it is summer even that is very few and far between. Just noticed the times are shown on his website. Time to setup the rabbit ears.

I watch his show as often as possible. Jared does a great job. The only part I don't like is that it's not me getting paid to fish and hunt.

Have you watched the Western states Sportsman outdoor show in Pocatello? 22 years and going strong. Nugent, Waddell, Parker, Zumbo and a ton of stars are on the show. Go to www.WesternStatesSportsman.com to find out more.

Jared is very nice, The goose hunts you have seen on his show were filmed walls with me... He also did a half show about my call making. I'm Snake River Custom calls I make Duck and Goose calls. I wish him well , he helps entertain us and learn more about the state in which we live.

I record and watch every one of his shows. We really need to support local venues and I think he does a good job on trying to educate on a different subject each episode. I'd have to say his video and sound has improved over time as well. It isn't as glossy and some of the higher budget shows I record but I really appreciate his efforts and his love for the great outdoors which are such a treasure to this area!

My hat is off to the job he's doing and I try to support his advertisers for putting their monies out to support this much needed program!

Funny this thread got reopened after two years, since I just got done filming an episode with Jared. He called me last week and asked if I still dive for crawfish and wanted to try and do an episode about it. With the crazy water year we've been having I hadn't been yet this year because the water was too murky. But I told him if he wanted we could give it a try. The water had cleared up enough that we had a good time, and he got enough footage to make a show. It is going to air tomorrow
night after the news on channel 6 (10:30). So if anybody is interested in crawfishing you'll have to make sure and watch it. Just cover your eyes when you see me in a bathing suit, its not pretty.
