Worked off midnights Monday and got over to the Holler about 3pm. When I arrived I was greeted by the highest pool of water I have ever seen at the holler. They opened the flood gates for the first time in over 20 years. I was hoping for the spook bite but it's still a couple of weeks away. Monday evening tried my stuff such as, flats and humps, I usually catch them there this time of year but nada.I'm blaming it on the high water and it being pulled so fast I thought I was on the river. Tuesday we changed tactics and went to the back of creeks and deep pockets off the main channel and we started catcing a few on grubs. We didn't catch giants but had some solid fish. I do believe they were the meanest bunch I have ever caught, a three lber would simply wear you out. The water temp was 68 and a little cooler than normal. We caught 15 Tuesday which really is a down number for early post spawn at the Holler. Went back out this mourning and caught a few more before my battery ran down. I believe in about two weeks when they start getting on the spook those numbers will increase. <br /> FYO, If you know how to catch walleye at night some big uns are being caught. I had to cut my wrist then kill a chicken and drank the blood before I was shown the Walleye secret and thats all I got to say about that. Them ole boys up there are serious about walleye. Included is a few pics of some DH. brown fish.
