I fished Calder Reservoir last weekend. First time I've ever been there. It's a beautiful place to fish. It is managed as one of the Blue Ribbon fisheries, so the quality of fishing was pretty good too. We were on the water by 8:00am, and the wind was mild but constant. We trolled Rapalas most of the day. Caught several Rainbows in the 16-18 inch range, with a couple going over 20 inches.

The fish in there are very fat and healthy; great fighters. Most of the fish caught were suspended in 10-15 ft of water over the deeper parts of the res (25-30 ft). The deepest spot we found was 33 ft. The bite was on throughout most of the day. Saw lots of wildlife too: Deer, Mallards, Teal, Osprey and Bald Eagle to name a few. If you've never been there, it's worth making a trip out there.

Nice report TJ and good looking bows. I've never fished Calder, does it have a dirt ramp? How far is it off the main road? WH2

It's right off the main road going up Diamond Mountain. Ramp is concrete. Also some restrooms by the res. and plenty of primitive camping around.

Yeah Calder's. Crouse and Matt Warner are close by. You can travel through Crouse Canyon, detour and peer over the top of Swallow Canyon, cross the Green on the "swinging bridge", make your way over to the Jarvie Ranch, and fish Brown's Park. I don't recommend taking a brand new camper through there though. Lots to see and do in the area.
