I was wondering if anyone has recently tried to launch @ Boulder harbor lately. After reading some of the recent posts it sounds like the ramp is out of commision due to low water levels. I have not tried the hemenway ramp in a couple of years. The last time I used it you needed a 4WD to launch cause it was just mud. I heard the Calville ramp is done. Is Echo Bay the only place left to launch a decent size boat? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks[fishin]

I'm launching at Boulder Harbor on Saturday and will post a report. Glad I have a 4WD!

Current Boat Launch Ramp Conditions at Lake Mead:
Overton Beach
The ramp is open and recommended for very shallow launching only. PWCs or small flat bottom fishing boats. This area is launch at your own risk due to lowering water levels. The bay is very shallow.
Echo Bay
All lanes are open and are suitable for deep water launching. The headwalk to the marina has been moved from the south side to the north side.
Callville Bay
Improvements to the ramp have continued and the south side of the ramp remains open. Please limit your tie-down to the courtesy dock (15 minutes of less). The concessioner provides shuttle service on the weekend.
Government Wash
The ramp closed in 2001 due to lowering water levels on Lake Mead.
Las Vegas Bay
The ramp closed in 2003 due to lowering water levels on Lake Mead.
Boulder Harbor Launch Ramp
The ramp is suitable for deep-water launching. The improvement project, replacing old asphalt with 6,500-square-yards of concrete, has been completed. All lanes are open.
Hemenway Harbor
The ramp is fully functional for shallow launching. Larger vessels on low trailers have been successful launching at this ramp. Boats with Deep-V hulls should consider using the Boulder Harbor Launch Ramp.
Temple Bar
There is typically no waiting line for launching and there is abundant parking. The ramp is not recommended for larger vessels (over 35 feet) at this time. Due to lowering water levels, old sections of the ramp are exposed. Large sections of the old asphalt were removed last summer and replaced with 8,000-square-yards of concrete. Work to extend this ramp as the water drops will continue.

Sure is getting nasty out there. I thought Overton Beach launch was dry by now. Haven't been up that way in a couple years, but even then, it looked like that section of the lake was done for.

We launched at Boulder Harbor Sunday, not too bad, it looks like they're going to put some steel plates to extend the ramp. The traction on the existing gravel was OK, no need for 4X4. The problem that I saw was the entrance to the cove, between Saddle Island and the point on the south, it's now about 35 feet wide between the bouys, at a depth of 15 feet in the center. my 21' boat only draws about 18" but bigger units will be shut out at some point.
Water temp 82 deg several locations .
this is all we caught...

Was up there for a tourney in the Nevada Striper Club. The very top of the Lake is now about 2 miles south of Overton Beach. Crazy man.

Hello! It's pretty wild isn't it?! To see that area all dried up. Hope it comes back some time.....and to think the water is still dropping!
