[fishin] Hit Starvation today. On the water at 7:00, water temp 48, air 42. Breezy and cold until about 10. Fish must have been annoyed by the breeze also, as didn't start catching them until about 10:00. Final tally 23, nothing huge, biggest 22.5,but most of the fish were 18 to 21. Really nice fish, will make some good sandwiches... Caught most fish in 30 - 35 feet of water. Surface temp was 57 when we quite at 3:00/ Things are looking up, with the warm temps increasing the snow melt I think the temps will continue to stay down for a little longer.

What flavor were your fishes ???? SMB, Wallinski, percher, RBslimer, Brownie ?????
Well if they were catching 20" Perch, I think I should be headed there now. Or 22" SMB. Nobody catches that many Browns in a trip to Starvation, and there probably aren't 20 slimers swimming in there, so the winner is,,,,,,

That was a great day of fishing on Starvation , I know several guys that were there fishing yesterday as well in several boats that said they had a pretty tough day and only caught a few. These guys are die hard walleye fishermen so you are to be commended on your success.[fishin]

You are correct Bob, they were of the "Wallinski" flavor. That's all I was fishing for pulling bouncers. The bite was tough and I didn't see many other people catching alot, including my boy in the back of the boat, so I guess I was just holding my mouth right or they liked the fact I warmed up my crawler with just sa pinch between my cheek and gum...[Wink]

Hey did you see me out on the drift boat? Too bad we could not have met up you probably never made it to Saleratus since you were doing so well where ever you were fishing. Yesterday was tough for sure but today was a whole different story. I also fished on Friday . Nice job catching that many!! I caught 4 walleye friday biggest 21 in, and a small mouth about 14 in. Saturday I caught nothing nada fished for five hours and today I caught 5 walleye the first and biggest fish of the day was a 6 1/2 pounder!!!!! She was all spawned out and had lost a bit of weight from what I could tell. I let her go so I only got to weigh her really quick. Id say about 26 inches what a gator mouthed beast though. That is my biggest fish on my newly acquired bottom bouncing skills that crankem taught me last week. I think I am getting the hang of it and ON A DRIFT BOAT!! I will say it was no easy task to troll around and keep it steadily cruising at a select speed. I might have made a couple of guys Angry in "motor" boats getting skunked while I had a hot hand from about 7 till 11 am then everything shut DOWN. I got a three day sunburn that will help me sleep great tonight.... not. I am still shook up from that fish probably wont sleep well anyway.

BTW: Your boy must be a sweet talker for getting to go out this weekend LOL....or your just a nice dad

just got back from the indian trails camp at starvation. fished 1 and 1 half days,5 people and plenty of bait.half the time shore other half boat. managed to get one bass small mouth between the group. lack of knowledge? cold temps? or bad luck? target was mainly bass and walleye. although tossed just about everything we had!

Nice report Todd....congrats on a great day! Sounds to me like you've got the dialed in and that's not an easy thing to do with the colder water. Great job!

Hello, I can add to this report. Found the fishing slow. Tried a lot of stuff, nothing worked consistently. Fished about 6-8 hours on Friday and Sat and 4 on Sun AM. Caught 5 bass, two walleyes and one brown trout. My fish finder read 51.8 deg on Fri AM and slightly higher the following days but got up to 60 in one cove on Sat. Conditions varied greatly throughout the reservoir. Saw lots of bottom bouncers but never a fish being boated. Talked to one fisherman who had caught a 3.5 lb bass Sun Am and one other. I caught nothing.

FOD>.....was that you I saw PADDLING around in that drift boat??? My girlfriend and I were (well me anyway) the one that ask you about how it was gunna "tone" you up doing all that rowing. We were in the tri-hull trolling...it took til Sunday just before we left for me to "dial in" how to catch those darn wally eyes!! We NEVER found any perch, and that was our target fish in going there....they must be deep still.
Like I said in another post earlier....I will "tell all" about when, where, how, etc.
The BEST spot I found was against the North wall (Over the old road bed) at the river end West of the bridge, in about 20-30 ft of water, about .9 mph or slower, and worm harness (green) /w bottom bouncer. By the way.... I lost all my bottom bouncers and found a new way to get the harness to the bottom....an egg sinker and two split shot on a dropper...that way if it hangs up ya just pull hard and off comes the weight...and then put a new one on!! Saves ALOT of tying of worm harnesses and setting them up...especially after ya find the color they want!!!
