So I went whitewater rafting down the Salmon river today which was really fun. While doing so, I seen A LOT of very large steelhead around. A few were rising and a few were just cruising in the water and I seen them in clear water. Most that I seen were VERY large and were definitely not just normal trout. If I am correct I think the season closed recently right? It was an amazing trip and gorgeous scenery.

Besides steelhead, is there any other fishing up on the Salmon River? I was really itching to fish when I was there! If there is other fishing, what kind of fishing is there? Does anybody usually fish there for anything besides steelhead?

What part of the salmon did you float. Yes the steelhead season is closed. I fish the river around stanley a couple times per summer you mostly catch planter rainbows, with the acasional bull trout. I am not sure when there trout season opens though.

Hey, I'm not real sure about what part of the river we were on. We got to Salmon and went past it a while to put in. I think we possibly started at the North Fork and got into the main stem of the river. I just know that the main rapids started when we hit Pine Creek bridge. That place was crazy!!!
