Nice article....too bad the best I can do these days is to be "Blake Keyes of Ogden's fishing partner"!!! []
It was a great time. I actually didn't shoot in the tournament. I followed my two buddies with a video camera and a regular camera trying to document the event a little bit. Here are a few pictures.
The first 51 carp filled up the bucket, so we had to transport the other 32 back on this ingenious "stringer" tied to the side of the boat. We think we lost a couple on the way back.
This team (the winning team) shot 83 carp in 5 hours. Not a bad day! Anyone interested in getting in on these tournaments, you can find the calendar and information here:

It was a great time by all I think. The Utah Bowfishing Association knows how to put on a good time for sure!

The wade and shoot method is fun, but has anyone tried the float and shoot method?
The east side of the lake was loaded with dozens and dozens of carp in very tight vertical groups all sucking air. One shot could easily stab a couple at a time.
This weekend I recall looking (from the boat) in a single direction and seeing 6 to 8 of these groups at almost any time. We could easily approach them within 10 or 15 feet.

Many carp were shot from the float and shoot method Saturday. Just hard to get some pictures at that close range when we were in the boat. Other teams I believe only hunted from the boats.
My buddies had a few "doubles" Saturday doing the stalking method as well. One group said they had a couple "triples" where they stuck 3 carp at a time.
I must say, it was a great time. I wasn't even shooting and I had a blast. If anyone wants to give it a go, contact the Utah Bowfishing Association. I'll say it again, they know how to put on a good time for sure. Lots of good folks involved to hang out with as well.
