I have just one word (Darwinism) survival of ther fittest. I grew up in Minnesota and I can never recall a single person I know getting excited about catching a stinking trout. Cook each one side by side and you will know why. The best think that could happen to this state would be the introduction of Walleye into more of the waters. You seem to have the elitest/purest mentality that runs the show. What is so special about the yellowstone cuthroat. After the first 5 seconds of fight it's like reeling in a dish rag. In fact I would much rather see the rainbow in the south fork rather than the cuts when it comes to trout.
Let nature take its course and quit trying to control everything around you.

Welcome to the site govikes, that was a different introduction, you might want to post it on the minnesota board. Here is a link to it:

We also have many other boards, like the walleye board if you are interested. WH2

dude..introducing another species to a foreign watter so it can take over is not letting nature take its course..its meddling with nature to meet your personal needs..your not making any sense..i like walleyes to but your point is pointless..

Hi there govikes and welcome to the membership. I am under the assumtion that you never caught a trout of any kind on a fly rod, otherwise you would know that it is a blast to catch one on the approiately weighted rod. Some people like fishing for bass while others like pan fishing. Guess that is why mother nature gave us a variety to species to choose from.[/#008000]

Truth be known I just enjoy the catch and rare if ever keep a fish, but walleye are the best to eat. I moved here a while back and was warned about the elitests on the south fork. I run the river in a jet boat and you would think I ran over their wife with it with some of the responses I get. I though this was a blog asking of the Walleye they found in Ririe res. It just seems the elitests run the show and if they dont get their way they will throw their money around to the various lobbiest groups until they do. That south fork has the smell of Jackson any more and us local, not so rich folk, are either not welcome, or will need to conform to their demands. As for the walleye issue I know of several areas where the two species coexist in harmony. Finger pointing on non indiginous introduction is best left to the experts. They have ruined many waters with what they done introducing predatory fish to clean up a non desired species. They never think far enough ahead to wonder what happens when the non desired fish are all gone. How did the rainbow get in the south fork. Now the panic is on the pure genetic strain of cuts being tainted by cross breeding with the rainbows.
