My neighbor invited me to go fishing on Lake Powell the 14 to 17. This would be my first fishing trip to Lake Powell. Went to the San Juan Arm. Camped at what I believe is Neskahi Bay. The bass fishing was good. Besides bass I caught a 12 and 13 inch croppie and one catfish. Friday we headed back to Bullfrog fishing along the way. Fishing for small mouth bass was good. Caught all but the catfish on a white tube 2 inches long.
Then disaster struck. About 20 miles from bullfrog the outboard motor stopped. My friend took the cover off and tried to find the problem. No power to the motor. After a while an older couple came along to see if we needed help. They offer to tow us to their house boat located about two miles up the lake and invited us to stay there that night. As they were leaving in the morning for Bullfrog they offered to tow us there in the morning. They towed us just a little ways when a boat with three men aboard came by wanting to know if we had run out of gas. We told them that it was a motor problem. One of the men knew something about outboard motors. He came aboard our boat to try and get the motor started. They were headed to Bullfrog and offer to tow us there if they could not get the motor started. The older couple then left. He found a loose wire and got the motor started. They said they would follow us in case we had more problems. About 7 miles further up the lake the motor stopped again. No life in the motor. They then towed us to Bullfrog.
We did not get their names of the people helping us but there help was greatly appreciated.
