West of the bridge at Starvation, at the river end, along the North wall where the old road bed is...green worm harness with bottom bouncers, slowwwwww .9 or less mph, in 24 ft of water(seemed to be the MAGIC depth) and if you're scared to hit the wall ya better not fish there, hard to control the boat without bow mount troller. The other hot spot was where FOD was paddling his driftboat.... at the inlet side near Salureatus and Sand Beach... I didn't have much luck there, but others did...using just a worm and 2 hooks above a weight or the usual green worm harness and bottom bouncer and slow drifting or going REAL slow with electric motor.
Today 5/19/09 I went to Willard and used the same harness and caught 2 wallys and 2 cats over by the sand beach corner ( SW corner) in 15 to 17 ft of water doing EXACTLY like at Starvation....SLOWWWWWWWW
There now I've posted a report ........so I don't get SLAMMED again by TroutDude or whatever and TubeDude

Wish I would have known that sunday morning. We left at around 3:30 and everyone cleaning fish said the same thing. All we caught were 2 really fat chubs and a 13" smallmouth. I believe we talked to you a couple of weeks ago, we were trying to trade a brown for a walleye. i may be dumping a day on thursday and head back up there.

I will post my report with this thread:
It has been a learning experience for me the last few days. Thinking back on it all I will just sum it up by saying learning new methods of fishing can make you think and rethink what your doing and then rethink about that. And then,.... second guess that thought and so on and so on..................., then I think I love fishing.
I have been fishing for the past week out at starvation. On a drift boat and a bass boat. As everybody has posted it has been a hit and miss festival, and the hitting was short but ever so sweet. On Sunday I caught a 6 1/2 pounder that kept me fishing knowing I had the best chance for one a little bit longer at this time of the year, even though I would go through 4-5 hour periods rowing and rowing(at a slow steady pace) without any fish. I would get bites but while both hands are used to power me along , if I got a bite I would have to drop the oars to my knees and hold both with one forearm pressed against my legs and feed the biter and then set the hook. WOW that was tricky, and it was a blast!! I missed some good bites and also caught some good fish.
Gottabite is right on with the slow speed. I was probably doing .5-.8 most the time and it didnt really matter what the color was. I thought it mattered more that the water was turned off in the diversion tunnel. Friday it was on and the water was not so clear, their was a distinct mud line that went out to 30 or so feet of water. I stayed in the mud and caught some fish. Sat. the water was off and fishing was tuff on that side. Sun., off. fishing was good in the morning but tuff in the heat of the day, Mon. off. Monday night me and a buddy fished from 7 PM into the dark until 1:30 AM I caught 3 biggest 18 in. and he nailed a really nice 4 pounder. Then the next morning woke up around 5 am and fished our butts off all day with only one fish, a little torpedo 15 incher caught by me using a bouncer.
I saw crossineyes and UTwalleye out on tues but I dont think they did very good either. Nice to meet you guys.
I took some pics of the last few days. No pic of the 6 1/2 pounder I diddnt want to stress her out while I rowed back to get my camera that I of coarse forgot on that epic morning Sun. DOOHHH!!!! I do have eye witnesses that will vouch. He is the guy in the night pic with his nice 4 pounder. he earned every bit of that fish.
I also had a little shore lunch fish fry with no guests Tues. afternoon but my dogs they were happy with the scraps though. I tried flagging down crossineyes and Utwalleye but I might have been waving at the wrong boat though..LOL ... Oh well maybe next time I will have someone to feed.
ONE MORE THING: How or what is the kosher way to find out who are the fellow BFTrs or not, I have no Idea most the time I wish I knew gottabite was a member.
Donnt we have some kind of code greetings?HAHAHA
