I know this isnt realy a fly fishing question but i have seen if any of you have ever heard of a yellow fin cutt. I was a bit bored and have been looking for a site that lists all the subspecies of trout and came across the Alvord cutt which is said to be extinct. And i came across the yellowfin wich is also extinct back around 1905 or something. I wanted to see a picture but searched with no luck.

that tells a bit about it but no pic. I found a post on a utah fly fishing forum. that said.
"There are actually some preserved specimens at the Denver Museum of Natural history.
I understand that they they will be extracting some DNA from these specimens and trying to create a clone of this extinct cutthroat.
The DWR has already expressed interest in obtaining broodstock of the Yellowfin. They want to cross the yellowfin with a tiger trout to create a sterile hybrid that can get get larger and is more pisciverous than tigers currently are. Even better they can then justify stocking it in their other cutthroat broodstock lakes to control chub populations."
