how far is east canyon from salt lake city, also would it be a good place to take some first time fisherman, to fish from the bank. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its only about 30 min from Salt Lake. Head 80 east and there is an exit that says east canyon. It is a great place to take first timers because it is almost a sure bet to catch fish. Castmasters work well, but so do worms and powerbait(for the first timers).
