Had a plan and stuck to it today. I felt we would get on a deep bite early and that the C-rig was the ticket. I was right about the bite but the size was poor. Me and wetwillie had to have boated twenty fish without a keeper to start. Changed to a crank and started hitting small fish on it. emoScratch About an hour into the morning had what I thought was a small fish hit my crank and told WW it was a small one and no net needed. Came all the way to the boat before I realized it was a good one coming at me. Right as I saw it it came up, said hello, gave me back my crank and was gone. emoDoh Not to much later had gone back to the C-rig and had one hit it, came at the boat, WW got the net but right as she came up and we saw her she came off. emoMad Two keepers and none in the well yet. We had been fishing the lake on a ledge flat that was a long flat that came out in the main lake and did a little drop of only about three foot, from 13 to 16 feet. They have been there but today they were small.

Moved to the wolf and started flipping docks with several things. I got a hard hit on a 10 inch worm just to set the hook and come in with it empty. Then Al sets the hook on a jig/pig, rod doubles, I get the net, she is pulling hard, Al saying a prayer, she doesn't come off but she wraps him around a log, he has to break it off. emoAngry I pick up a spook and wamp! Another keeper on, I thought well how will I loose this one. To my amazement this one comes in the boat. emoApplause Just a little later Al is still flipping a jig/pig and he does it again. Rod doubles, he is praying, she comes up and jumps, he is saying, Please don't come off! I net her, a good 4 lber. emoApplause We catch several more on spooks and blades but none would keep. The third one just was not to be. emoRolleyes Had our chance but as my year has been going we could not close the deal. emoRedface

It was still a great day to be out there and Al's fish, 3.91lbs got our money back with the second place big bass pot. emoThumbsup Good company, lots of fish today and had a great time seeing everyone. emoToast Jmax
