Went up to fish some of the smaller lakes up by Preston. The first one we got about 15 LMB from. They are pre spawn. I two females full of eggs. The males are nest building. It was tough fishing. Crawdad plastics caused a pretty good rush in one spot that produced 5 fish caught on nearly consecutive casts. Then they quit. Thats fishing. We spent nearly 2 hours waiting out a rain storm that turned the dirt road into a mess. The truck and boat was pretty messed up. Not pretty at all.
Sunday night brought more down pours so today we ran up to Onida Narrows. Never been there and figured we would see what was there. That road was wet gravel not greasy mud any way so we made it in. Didn't know what to try up there so we went bass fishing since I had read there were smallies in there. We got in the water there at 11 so we were late. Left at 2. We got 7 bass there and a set of antlers too. I have snagged some odd things but they were a first for me. Hope the pics turn out.

How in the world does somebody snag antlers? That is a story that nobody else will ever be able to tell. Good thing you got pics. That is awesome.

Glad to see you got into them. Great report/pix. All those Preston Area Lakes up there are my "Go-TO" places and have been since I was a little "lad"!!! You didnt get any Walleye at Oneida??? HMMMMM we do really well up there for them in the fall. Bet that poor deer fell through the ice this year and you got the remnants of him!!! Let me know next time you go up, maybe I can show you a "hole" or two!!!

Nice report thanks! Cool snag! [cool] Once fishing with a friend in my boat many years ago snagged a old whiskey bottle on a spinner bait it was crazy the hook of the spinner bait was in the neck of the bottle.

Excellent report. Always like to hear about places that are little more off the beaten path.

The bass at Onieda were tight against shore. Had to hit with in 4 feet. lost a lot of jig heads. I have to get some carp bait too and thin them out up there some time. The lake really graphs lots of fish but many are most likely the carp. That tight shore fishing usually wont yield a walleye. Both lakes were mosly quiet with few boats. That road out of C lake needs some time to dry out. It has the kind of mud that makes your tires bigger. Mother nature took care of that mess for us on the way home with a jumbo rain and hail storm that took all that mud off. Got to love Memorial Day weather.
