Fished the Cleveland Bassmasters Tournament on Nickajack today. Started off shallow throwing a chartreuse shad Sammy like last week. Had a limit in an hour. The topwater bite died shortly thereafter. Picked up a Strike King Red-Eyed Shad which produced better quality fish. Ended up culling every fish I'd caught on the Sammy. Continued to upgrade using the Red-Eyed shad and a 10" worm. Weighed in almost 17lbs for a First Place finish. All of my fish were caught in less than 10 feet of water, but you needed to be around grass . Water temps never got above 73 degrees. Water clarity varied somewhat; from good old TVA green to stained.
