Hey guys..My name is James and I have been following this forum for a while now checking for lake mead tips and such and finally decided to register. I thought the best way to introduce myself would be telling yall how my fishing trip went Friday 5-22. Me and the wife decided we wanted to get out of town for a day so we decided to head up to Eagle Valley Reservoir and camp out for the night. Read up a little on that area and saw they stock it like crazy with rainbows and have a few browns and tiger trout in there also. My wife hates to fish so I called up my fishing partner... which so happens to be my little sister hehe... Luckily she had the day off so she was excited as all hell to come out. Well we left here around 2 am and got to the campsite around 5:30am. My wife fell asleep so me and my sis hit up the reservoir as soon as the sun popped out. The day started out really really cold... Before the heat of the sun started up it had to have been 45 degrees. So if u ever go out there early in the morning bring warm clothes... anyways, The trout fishing was awesome!! By 10:30 am, I would say we caught about 25 or so rainbow trout. 1 Brown and 1 Tiger trout also. It was a blast. Threw back most of em. Kept the largest to fill our limit (5 fish each). So we went back to camp to rest and take naps and eat... Around 3:30pm me and my sis didn't feel as though we did enough fishing =D, so we decided to bust out my bass tackle and head over to echo canyon reservoir to try our luck at the bucketmouths (about 25 min from eagle valley). She had never bass fished before so she was really curious. She loves bait fishing and thats about all she knew how to do so I was really really wanting to teach her to fish plastic baits... Well we get to the reservoir and its a little smaller than eagle valley but still nice. I hooked her up with a 4" Camo powerworm setup texas rigged.. showed her how to retrieve it and let her go to work...i told her with the setup she really didnt have to worry about snags so casting into weeds would be ok.. So she walks over to this really weedy area and gives it a cast... not but 2 seconds later I hear her line draggin out! Her first bass on her first real cast! She was stoked! It was non stop from there.. I can almost say for the next 2 hours, 2 out of 3 casts we landed a fish. It was insane... I have never caught bass like that in my life. One after another. We harvested 5 decent ones but the rest we just through back. Even caught a couple nice sized crappie and a decent trout. The sizes ranged from 9 inchers to some real nice fatties. If any of you guys get a chance.. this place is a must to try out. Overall it was a damn good day. Easily landed over 100 fish. She took tons of photos with her disposable camera but has not developed em yet. I only took some pictures of echo canyon on my phone and after when we had all our keepers on the stringer.. heres some pics.. Thanks for reading!.. hope I didnt bore ya with my really long post lol.

thanks for the feedback =). Ya that place was great to me.. and the weather is just beautiful in the summer.

on a side note.. On my way home from hiking yesterday with friends, We stopped by Floyd Lamb Park (Tule springs) to eat our lunches. I had my fishing pole in the trunk so I thought I would fish for an hour or so. Gave it a go and had some decent results.

Caught the bigger one in the Cattail area closest to the dirt parking lot. I cast my line over a floating log and when i went to pull the brush hog over the log he grabbed it right as it was popping out of the water hehe.

excuse my eyes looking all wierd in the picture, the wind was blowing dirt into my face.

Thats cool you pulled out some bass outta the ponds. I have been fishing trout and catfish many times and never seen anyone pull out any bass. I heard one of the old timers caught a 6lb one off a speck of cheese fishing for trout.

Great initial report. Definitely makes me want to try to get up there for a quick little get away. Nice job.

FLSP is a niec family get away. I remember going there as a kid and trying for some trout. I had heard about bass in there, but hadn't seen any. Nice haul.

The bass in floyd lamb are really tricky. I think it has alot to do with the amount of pressure they are exposed to. There have been days where I was bored and went out there to fish some time away and spent 5-6 hours hunting em along the shore and they would not take anything I would throw at em... and if they just so happen to see you, forget about it! lol.
