Took pops boat and had a game plan of fishing points, ledges, shallow for topwater with some flipping. Started on a point that had some shad schooling on the deeper side and we thru cranks within 6 cast had the first hookup and he was just alittle short. Had a fellow fishing the deep ledge i wanted to fish, he finnaly moved off after we had moved into a shallow water cove throwing topwater and flipping some trash and laydowns. caught first keeper on a pop-r, thought we might have been on something so we spent alot of time trying this style and moved over a flat that had fish schooled up threw everything under the sun and nothing. moved back to the ledge and Michael tossed in a jig and wham second keeper. fished this style for awhile and nothing. Moved to second point and not a bite. Moved into another cove and started flipping and again nothing. Not sure where all of the fish I have been catching are going to with all of the shad around but thats how it goes. Moved to last spot and fished a point with deep water and again nothing but the shad on the screen, fished to another point with with grass on it and our last keeper of the day. Didnt weigh them didnt see the any reason why to with only having about 6 pounds. Was a great morning but the fish were not there for us. Was a well run tournament and I wish my schedual would allow me to fish each week but I am glad I got to get out there this week and fish something new.
