Well, I am no longer a rookie...sorta...
Heath and I have been talking about doing this for two years, and finally got it together today. Although the weather has been screwy, and has the flatties behind, we decided to go anyway. When I got a text asking "can you sink", I thought well, Heath must not pay enough attention to my posts, thats for sure. emoLaugh But it did get me wondering, and I found out later, since you have to go under deeper than I thought, it is a good things....Go figure!emoBig
The first hole we hit was under an old slab of concrete and when Heath hit him the first time, it was wild as they have the ability to "thump" something in their body to scare away other fish, and when your standing on the pad, it is pretty dang wild! It took a few holes to finally get a fish to chop the crap out of Heath's hand, and he hoisted a 15lb Blue out a hole, only to loose it while showing him to me...No picture. While on another hole, a snake came by to visit, but decided we were water sasquatch;s and hi-tailed it!! LOL Next Heath pulled a 8 lbish channel out. Took some pics, ( on Heaths camera) and looked for more. we had several cats squirt out of the holes hands today. The last stop was supposed to be the winner. The main hole was outrageous in size, and had some kind of a mean at that would slam the hooking stick over and over. Although I never got to feel a fish bite the dookey out of me today, that hole got me comfortable since I went under about 20 times or more, and had both arms buried to my chest in the hole, fanning that stick trying to get the dumb fish to bite on the end of the rod. Me and Heath worked the two holes on that spot alternating between them as we got frustrated. Heath finally got his fish to come forward, and again it slipped through his hands!!! emoBang
So we continued to work the main hole fore a while longer, and I guess spent about 1.5 hours on this site. We never did get this fish out. We (Heath) decided it was a smallish blue, and we cried uncle to battle with him another day.
Still a neat day, and I cant wait to get that first big flattie by hand. Heath will post some pics later.
