I fished Henry's Lake for my second time yesterday and had another fun time. I didn't make it up until 3:00 or so and the fishing wasn't nearly as hot. I started out at the county boat ramp and fished there for a few hours. I accidently snagged two, then caught two the right way. I had a few more missed hits as well. There were still quite a few fish stacked in there but a man I talked to that had been there all week said they really started moving out yesterday.

I decided next I would go check out the South Shore. The water was pretty choppy when I got there and I couldn't see much at all. I threw out and didn't get much so I switched back to my other fly. A few minutes later I caught three little hybrids (5" long) which was pretty funny. I wasn't expecting to catch anything little. The wind died down and I could see through the water again and saw a few cutts stacked up. They wouldn't take my leech so I tied on an egg pattern and caught one. I missed another nice one (24" or so) because I got a little anxious and set the hook too fast. Overall it was a really fun time even though the fishing was slower. I may be back again next weekend. I just really love Henry's Lake.

I have both actually Smile I was just being lazy and didn't feel like kicking around too much. I kicked around for a little bit but didn't do any good. I don't have a trolling motor or anything right now and my legs were already tired from work all week. haha.

I love that last picture.

I too was on the Lake Friday through Sunday morning. The fish have moved off to about 15 feet, but still not out in the deep. I managed one 8lb hybrid, but caught moslty 2 lb'rs. Most of the fish I caught were off of the cliffs area.

This is still a beautiful area with a lot of wildlife to enjoy. The bugs were out in force!!! I'm sure the fish were gulping off the surface all night long.
Posted a few pics on the Utah forum. They won't seem to post on here today....[crazy]

IN THE DEEP? You do realize that lake doesn't get much deeper.[Wink][laugh]

Yup, about 19'6", but not many fish were out in the "middle". They were within 100 yards of the shoreline. Not normaly the case.

I saw a lot of yellow toons, but didn't see you, I don't think..[cool] Were you up there?

NO WAY! Not this time of year. We use to make our week long trip starting with the first week of June and ending with the first week of July.
DON'T LIKE the masses and definitely not the bugs.
Plus, I don't smoke anymore to keep them away[laugh][laugh]

I don't think I have ever caught a fish out in the middle. I know H is not like other lakes as it isn't a deep lake and there is allot of vegetation to hide under. Plus I am betting the water doesn't get much cooler in the 5' more depth, where as in other deep lake the fish will move to the deep in the hotter months.
I just haven't seen that happen at H. I Have noticed, if warm, forget about fishing in the afternoon. The fish become very Lethargic.

The BIG fish I have caught, have been taken in 5' of water, but I have caught allot of NICE fish in the 13' range on a regular basis.

The more I see and hear about Henry's lake, the more I dont want to fish it. It seems like a one big stock pond, crowded, dirty, fish swimming around boat docks. It hardly seems like a world class trout fishery. I have lost all desire to fish there. I know there are some big cutts there, but it seems like it's artificial, like they are grown for you to catch them. Maybe It's just me, I am getting old and grumpy !!

Brother you hit the nail on the head. I agree. Stay away and fish Wyoming instead. Less people, bigger fish.

I can't say that the negatives you've heard are true at times, but usually just early on in the season. Most of my experiences are that the fish are tricky to find if you don't know the lake, the people are spread out pretty well, and the scenery beautiful. However, if you've lost desire to fish there, it helps keep it from getting overcrowded to I guess[crazy]
