It had been way too long since my last fishing outing, in fact, my last outing was ice fishing in January. So I got the boat ready, got up early and headed to Utah lake with my three sons. We launched at Lindon and went NW along the shoreline about half way between there and AF harbor. The kitties wanted to play big time. My kids had an absolute blast casting crawlers under a bobber next to the reeds. My youngest, 6, had the hot rod and probably boated about 20. He also nailed the biggest, 25 inches long and about 8 pounds. We moved when it would slow down and it didn't matter where we set up, the fish were there. We made one big move to the south of Lindon about a mile. It didn't matter, the kitties were there too. My 9 year old nailed a 23 inch 6 pounder there. They caught a few white bass, a few bullheads, but mostly cookie cutter 14-15 inch channels. We ended up keeping 12 cats, the 3 whities and 3 bullheads. It seemed we had fish or bites every few minutes. In all, the kids probably caught about 40 fish.

On a side note, we never caught a fish on anything but crawlers. We tried minnows and white bass meat and never had a bite. I didn't have any carp meat, which is my bait of choice, but it seemed odd that they didn't want anything else. Notice above that I said the kids caught...I did not catch a single fish. I had a very large piece of white bass on the big rod that I changed frequently hoping for a monster, and casted jigs on the other when I wasn't taking fish off the kid's lines, or baiting, or tying on another hooks. I did have one inexperienced crappie that decided he didn't want to hold on any longer at the side of the boat, but that was it. It didn't matter, I had a blast helping the kids.

The fish fry last night was awesome. Sprite battered fillets, (not a beer person), were awesome. My wife is not much of a fish eater, but she had seconds.

Very nice![Smile] Glad the kids whacked 'em. Interesting that they were so selective on baits.

I fished Goshen Bay for about 1.5 hours Saturday morning. Not fast but I caught two nice ones 23" & 24". I also caught a 27" behind Geneva Monday morning. All were caught on 4" minnows.

Thanks for the report.[cool]

Nice report! I went down to Lincoln Beach Sunday. Only caught two channels and a nice blue gill. The bites were on worms also didn't touch the the fresh carp meat at all.

Looks like I should of stayed north but I wanted to take the ride, I haven't been down there in years it's a lot nicer now then years ago and no ramp fees. [Smile]

Thumped a few carp with the bow they are thick down now there were groups of at least twenty doing the spawning thing easy pickins. Starter taking longer shot until I broke my arrow need to buy more lost two this year never use to lose any[frown]

Cool you got with the kids a had a great day. [cool]

Hmmm... I did the Lincoln Beach thing with some little ones (kids). We fished in close to the reeds west of the springs. Caught about a dozen and released them all at the dock. Only thing we used for bait was carp meat -- big carp meat, about the size of a chicken egg. We used bigger bait in hope of avoiding the mudders. The mudders were still a nuisance and we caught a few of them. When the line took off and did not stop it was usually a big 'un. We fished on the bottom without a bobber. Also moved around south of the launch and picked up a couple later in the morning. Our biggest was about 5 pounds. Fun morning.

Seems like the best bait of the day is whatever they happen to come up on. I think you can catch them on about anything this time of the year. Bigger baits seem to help discourage the white bass and the mudders. There is no shortage of carp bait.
