My wife was invited to Chip'N'Dales for a bachelorette party Saturday night so I figured I get a day on the lake for letting her go to that. So went out of 33 hole Saturday early. Got to the water and had a lot of fish breaking the surface. Good number of carp all over the place. May have to target them for a little fun sometime soon. Anyway, wind was tough to deal with and was pushing me here and there in my tube. Ended up deciding to head over to the island after little success with topwater, plastics, and rapalas. Put out a rod with an anchovie and walked around the island a bit. Tossed out a silver rat-l-trap and had what I would guess was a 2 lb largemouth follow all the way to the shore. Tried again and couldn't peak the interest. Came back with plastics and nothing. Dang.
While on the island, ended up with a cat and a little striper. Snapped pitures and decided to brave the wind and get back to shore before the storm comes in. Hit the water in my tube and to my dismay, I heard little "pops" all around the tube. The seam that holds the styrofoam seat had completely unraveled on my left side. I was going down. I tried to redistrubute my wieght to the tube and not the seat, but put me in an awkward kicking position and I knew I had to get to the closest shore and walk back to my launch place. I scrambled to shore right in someone elses fishing hole (sorry man) and tried to climb out. Of course, where I choose is covered in mud and my fins slip right off, sending me neck deep into the water. So I struggle out of the water, soaking wet, and in the process, drowning my phone and camera which were in my shirt pockets. So much for the pictures of my fish for the day. Anyway, forth time the tube was out, it blows up on me. What a joke. Lose tube, phone, and camera in the same trip. Well, thats the wrath of Lake Mead I guess. Probably last chance on the lake as I move to Utah next week. This is a trip that will be remembered.
