I've just decided, aka gotten permission from the wife, to go for an antlerless elk hunt this year. I live in Provo and would prefer to hunt as close as possible for gas and since that's the area I know best. Any recommendations before I apply?

The "Wasatch Mtn" areas would probably be the closest to home for you. One really good spot is the Canyon between Heber and the Berry (Not sure the exact unit). I always see people hunting there in late Dec/Jan and there are tons of elk all over the place. All you need is a good pair of legs to get up the mountain and a good sled to ride down the mountain with your cow [Wink]. You can spot most of the elk from the road and plan your stalk.
Also, if you are interested in driving up near East Canyon I know of an excellent spot there as well (Public land & private land with public access). PM if you need specifics on the EC area and draw odds.
Good luck,
Hookjaw
